The Onkyo Remote3 Control App is the official Onkyo application for iPhone/iPod touch that lets you intuitively operate compatible Onkyo network products.
A refreshed and streamlined user interface makes it easy to get more from your home entertainment experience.
Available as a free download, the app is compatible with all network-capable Onkyo A/V products as well as selected network-ready products released during or after 2009.
Note: Onkyo network components manufactured prior to 2009 will gain compatibility on a model-by-model basis.
Functions Enabled by Onkyo Remote3
(1) Audio streaming services operation. Stations are touchscreen-selectable, with no need to view a TV display
(2) Control of streaming audio files from a DLNA-compatible server. Your iPhone/iPod touch can be used to select music directly from the server
(3) General remote control and playback functionality
(4) Volume-control function
(5) Information including station frequency displayed when listening to radio. (Note: available only on A/V products with a built-in radio tuner)
(6) Stream music stored on iPhone/iPod touch wirelessly (selected models only)
(7) FLAC, DSD, and Apple Lossless playback capability via Home Media function (selected models only)
(8) Compatibility with Spotify Connect* (A/V network receivers released 2014 and after)
*Availability depends on region

iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 5c, 6, 6plus and iPod touch running iOS7.1 or later.
Customer using iPhones or iPod that does not support iOS7.1 would not be able to apply this update.

Hmmm...Ive had all the remotes since the first one and never had a problem with my TX-8050. Rarely does it fail to find the receiver and if it does I just restarted the app and continued on. They have all been great apps since the first one in my experience.
I love this app. My remote stopped working and I started using this app and its working great.
I can switch on Zone 2 sitting in patio and play music, thats awesome.
Works great on my 8140. I would love to see some sort of support for the Apple Watch for quick volume or track changes.
I am a professional installer who had been installing Onkyo receivers for years. Its a great choice, Big Bang for your buck. I use this app daily and I show customers how to use it all the time. I find it very easy to use and switching through zones and music is quick and simple. I highly recommend this product!
I wish it would always stay connected when you open it back up. Very nice. Stay patient with this app, once its working you will use it. Better than the actual remote.
Some bad moments
Lags and keeps refreshing and looks for the amp every time I open the ap. Also doesnt allow zone 2 to work. Whats the point of having an app if it cant control zone 2?
New update is junk. Please fix again. Hire some 13 year old nerd to fix it.

Its so inconsistently buggy. A feature works one day and not the next. Also, its been out for at least two years with no changes. Time to upgrade and scrap this awful version. Its holding your excellent receivers back.
I loved the fact that I could control zones 2 & 3 with this app. It used to work pretty flawlessly, but I can no longer connect even though the app sees my device and the tuner is hard wired into my network. As of 30 May 2016, I still receive "connection failed" even after deleting the app and reinstalling it.
Just got set up with DTR-20.7 receiver. The big sales pitch was to be able to use app ...which crashes every time other time were trying to power on off. Then we cant get the app to reconnect to the receiver. And the technician has to come out and mess with the receiver because zone 2 wont turn off. Im shocked at so many problems so soon. Weve had friends over to hear the new system which (each time) doesnt work. We say dont buy onkyo or integra etc. Stay away. Its lemon city. Look at all the other complaints.
